Meet the Team

  • Prof. Lucia Corsini

Lucia is an Associate Professor and Head of the Circular Economy and Sustainability Lab at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. She also holds a courtesy appointment at the Saïd Business School. Lucia has a BA, MEng, MA (Cantab) and PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge. To date, Lucia has been awarded over £2.1m in research funding from UKRI, EPSRC, ESRC and other funding bodies. Her research has been published in leading engineering and management journals such as Sustainable Production and Consumption, Production, Planning and Control and R&D Management, and her research has also contributed to the Government Digital Sustainability Alliance (GDSA).

  • Dr. Aya Abdelmeguid

Aya Abdelmeguid is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Design for the Circular Economy at the University of Oxford, contributing to the Circular EEE Project. She has recently completed a PhD at Cranfield University, where her research explored key dimensions of the transition to a circular economy, including challenges, consumer behaviour, industry trends, and strategies. This research adopted a holistic, systems-thinking approach to circularity, aligning closely with the objectives of the Circular EEE Project. In addition to her academic work, Aya has gained practical experience as a Circular Economy Consultant and Project Assistant. These roles allowed her to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, manage impactful projects, analyse waste management practices, and develop strategies for promoting circularity. She is dedicated to leveraging her academic and professional expertise to advance sustainable practices in high-impact sectors such as electrical and electronics equipment, addressing critical waste and sustainability challenges to drive meaningful change.

  • Dr. Ana Morgado

Ana is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant conducting Material Flow Analysis (MFA) and Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) flows within the Great London area to inform waste and carbon reduction scenarios. Ana holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, where she investigated innovative metrics to assess resource efficiency in emissions-intensive industries, with the aim of developing a simple, comprehensive tool that allows policy-makers and investors to understand the efficiency of the combined use of materials and energy during manufacturing, and its impact on emissions. Additionally, she has a Master’s in Chemical Engineering – Energy and Environment from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, and an MPhil in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from the University of Cambridge. In 2023, Ana interned as an Energy Analyst at the International Energy Agency having contributed to some of the Agency’s flagship publications such as the World Energy Outlook.
